RFID - radio frequency identification.

This is a wireless technology that can be used to convenient and securly identify EV owners to access charging stations. Internationally EV hardware has adopted the 13.56Mhz standard and is used extensively for access control.

RFID technology has transformed our interactions with various aspects of daily life. An RFID card for EV charging allows you to access, authenticate yourself and link to your preferred payment method. To start charging, simply tap your card quickly on the RFID reader. This is a preferred method for starting a charging session for the following reasons.

  • Fast, convenient and accurate authorization.

  • There is no need to scan a QR code or use your phone app to enter a code.

  • Tracking usage. An RFID is linked to the driver account so you have a detailed history of the charging sessions

  • And the most important reason to use RFID.

    • Wevo certified chargers are extensively tested to store a local list of RFIDs, so even if communication is interrupted, the driver can still swipe the RFID card and start a charging session.
