Why use pre-authorization?

Sometimes, when a driver completes a public charging transaction, and it is time to charge their credit card, payment may fail for various reasons, such as insufficient funds or insufficient available credit to cover the transaction.

To prevent such cases and improve the payment process, it is advisable to use a pre-authorization process before starting the transaction.

How does Stripe pre-authorization work?

We have implemented payment card pre-authorizations for Scan 2 Charge on Stripe accounts. This method authorizes $1/€1/£1 before the transaction starts to verify the card's validity. If the pre-authorization fails, the driver must provide a new credit card to begin the transaction.
