What is the idle fee used for?

Sometimes, after a vehicle has finished charging, the driver may keep it plugged in for a prolonged period, preventing other drivers from using it. To address this issue, you can set an idle fee, which is applied when a vehicle remains plugged in for an extended period after the charging process is complete.

When is the idle fee applied?

The fee will be applied after a pre-set grace period, allowing the driver sufficient time to clear the charging station.

How to set up the idle fee?

To set it up the idle fee, simply go to settings >> Rate plans >> Add/Edit rate plan >> Transaction fees:

You can add the following:

  • Idle fee - it will be applied only to AC chargers.

  • Idle fee grace period - set when the idle fee will applied. Please notice that the minimum period is 10 minutes to allow the driver time to clear the vehicle.

  • Idle fee cap - set idle fee limit per transaction

How the idle fee is displayed in the app?

The idle fee will be displayed in the rate details:

"Charging completed" screen

Before the idle fee is applied, the fee is presented to the driver:

When the grace period ends and the idle fee is applied, a notification is presented.

How is the driver notified about the idle fee?

The driver will be notified about the idle fee via a push notification or text message.

Where the idle fee is reflected?

The charge will be reflected in the following:

  • The back office’s “Cost” column

  • Statements documents

  • Driver’s invoice
