When a charger can communicate with the system, its status is typically set to one of the non-offline statuses.

However, if a charger fails the OCPP security verification, it may show as offline despite its attempts to communicate with the system. This is because the charger is using an outdated token, which the system rejects.

How to identify a security-rejected charger?

A security-rejected charger can be identified by its status icon containing a small exclamation mark (!). Un-hiding the security column would also show this charger is security rejected.

How to handle a security-rejected charger?

A charger was security rejected because the security token it presents to the back system does not match the token on file. This can be for valid reasons, including a factory charger reset, or invalid reasons, such as spoof attacks.

If you are convinced that the reason for the rejected token is valid, you can easily reset the password directly from the charger menu and begin the initial authentication process.

Reset the Secure Charger Password

To reset the secure charger password:

  1. Go to the Chargers tab.

  2. Locate the rejected charger during authentication by enabling the "Security" column and filtering by the "Rejected" status.

  3. Click on the three-dot menu next to the charger.

  4. Select Reset Security to reset the password and begin the initial authentication process.

This process will restore the charger to its factory settings and allow it to reconnect smoothly to the back office system.
